What to wash face with before a glycolic acid peel?

Question by Frank The Tank: What to wash face with before a glycolic acid peel?
I read somewhere that soap based cleansers are not good since they are alkali and will neutralize the acid?
I don't have any gentle cleansers only clinique face wash and neutrogena bar. So what can I use to wash my face before I put on the 40% glycolic acid peel?
I do have also a clinique toner.

Dove's Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar has a pH between 6.5 and 7.5, making it pretty neutral (a pH of 7 is neutral). That would be your best bet if you're worried about your face wash affecting your peel. Honestly though, as long as you rinse the cleanser off really well, you should be just fine

This particular product can only be sold by professionals because it has such a high percentage of glycolic acid(it doesn't state what percentage on the box as it's not sold commercially. I would suggest that you see a dermatologist if you want to try a similar product, as any glcolic acid product you can buy online will not not be the same strength and will not provide dramatic results. How Glycolic Acid Products Remove Your Wrinkles and Blemishes

Glycolic acid products are a group of fruit acid based chemicals that are usually made from sugar cane and citric acid. The fact that citric fruit and sugar cane are natural resources, they are commonly used by cosmetic manufacturers in producing  glycolic acid based cosmetic products.

Glycolic acid is actually used as an industrial rust remover which is why pure glycolic acid would have devastating effects if applied to the skin. Take note that the government has mandated that cosmestic products that carry more than 10% glycolic acid are classified as dangerous. Glycolic acid is a fantastic exfoliating agent because of its nature. It has low pH and it can dissolve in water. If you apply glycolic acid products on your skin, the lotion that contains the glycolic acid will seep into under layer of your skin. It will break the dead cells and the new cells. The acid will then burn away all the dead skin cells.  As you rinse you face after the exfoliation process, you will notice that your skin will look youthful and whiter.

Facial cleansers are the most common glycolic acid based products. This is because one doesn't have to go through with the sticky feeling of applying cream or lotion. After applying the cleanser, remember to rinse you face with water. You will feel refresh.

If you are a first time user of glycolic acid based cleanser, you will experience a tingling feeling on your skin. This is absolutely normal.  Glycolic acid eliminates the build-up of dirt and oil in your pores to give your skin a fresh new vibe.
Some may advise you to use glycolic cleanser to remove make-up. If you ask me, I think make-up remover will be a better option because different  cosmetic products are produced for different purposes. This is because the glycolic acid products only remove a thin layer of skin.
